After unboxing, keep your new plant in bright indirect light for about a week to let it bounce back from the stresses of shipping. Check roots for rot, and water as needed.
Refrain from repotting for at least one month. While we inspect every plant for pest and health before shipping, its best practice to inspect and isolate your new plant for up to a month to limit pest spread. If your plant arrives with any issue, reach out to our team with pictures if possible!
Plant Shipping Disclaimer: Live plants have different sensitivity levels to shipping stress including but not limited to shipping route/facility weather or being boxed up without light or ventilation for days at a time. Yellowing/lose of leaves, root rot, wrinkling of stems, discoloration, and other signs of shipping stress can be expected to some degree. Minor damage as listed above sometimes cannot be mitigated even through the best of practices per each plants unique sensitivities. Minor and Expected stress on live plants shipped by Scorpio Gardens as listed above cannot be considered for refunds. To minimize stress on your plants in transit, consider adding “heated packaging” for packages traveling through regions experiencing 40 degrees or less and upgrading to Express 2nd Day Mail
Light Requirements: Place your Maidenhair Fern in bright, indirect light to maintain its lush green color and promote healthy growth. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, as this can scorch its sensitive fronds.
Watering Needs: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Aim to maintain a steady level of humidity around the plant, as Maidenhair Ferns are particularly sensitive to dry conditions. Water when the top inch of the soil feels slightly dry.
Soil Type: Plant your Maidenhair Fern in a well-draining potting mix that retains moisture. A blend of potting soil and peat moss can create an ideal growth medium.
Temperature and Climate: Maintain a moderate and stable environment for your Maidenhair Fern, with temperatures ranging between 60-75°F (15-24°C). Adequate humidity levels are essential for its well-being, especially in dry indoor settings.
Fertilization: Feed your Maidenhair Fern every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength. Avoid over-fertilization, as ferns are sensitive to excess nutrients.
Pruning and Maintenance: Pruning requirements for Maidenhair Ferns are minimal. Remove any brown or damaged fronds as needed to maintain its appearance and encourage new growth.
Pests and Diseases: While generally resistant to pests, Maidenhair Ferns may occasionally face issues with common houseplant pests like spider mites or aphids. Regularly inspect your plant and address any infestations promptly.
Toxicity: Maidenhair Ferns are non-toxic to humans and pets, making them a safe and charming addition to homes with furry friends or children.
