After unboxing, keep your new plant in bright indirect light for about a week to let it bounce back from the stresses of shipping. Check roots for rot, and water as needed. Refrain from repotting for at least one month. While we inspect every plant for pest and health before shipping, its best practice to inspect and isolate your new plant for up to a month to limit pest spread. If your plant arrives with any issue, reach out to our team with pictures if possible!

Growth Pattern: String of Turtles grows as a compact, trailing succulent with vines that can gracefully cascade from hanging pots or trail along shelves. Its trailing stems can reach lengths of several feet, adorned with clusters of petite, turtle-shell-patterned leaves.
Light Requirements: Place your String of Turtles in bright, indirect light for optimal growth. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, which can scorch its delicate leaves. These plants can adapt to lower light conditions but may grow more slowly.
Watering Needs: Maintain moderate soil moisture for your String of Turtles. Water when the top inch of the soil feels dry, usually every 1-2 weeks, depending on environmental conditions. Ensure proper drainage to prevent waterlogged roots, as this succulent is sensitive to overwatering.
Soil Type: Plant your String of Turtles in a well-draining potting mix. A blend of cactus or succulent soil with perlite or sand provides the ideal growing medium. Proper drainage is crucial to prevent root rot.
Temperature and Climate: String of Turtles thrives in average indoor temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C). It appreciates consistent, mild temperatures and should be protected from drafts and sudden temperature fluctuations.
Fertilization: Feed your String of Turtles with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce fertilization in the fall and winter when growth slows.
Pruning and Maintenance: Pruning requirements are minimal for this succulent. Trim back any leggy or overgrown stems to encourage bushier growth. Regularly remove any yellowing or dead leaves to maintain its appearance.
Pests and Diseases: String of Turtles is generally resistant to pests and diseases. However, it's essential to monitor for common succulent pests like mealybugs or spider mites. Treat infestations promptly with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
Toxicity: Great news for pet owners and families: String of Turtles is non-toxic to humans and pets. You can enjoy its charming presence without worrying about potential toxicity.
Additional Tips:
- Propagate your String of Turtles through stem cuttings placed in soil or water.
