After unboxing, keep your new plant in bright indirect light for about a week to let it bounce back from the stresses of shipping. Check roots for rot, and water as needed. Refrain from repotting for at least one month. While we inspect every plant for pest and health before shipping, its best practice to inspect and isolate your new plant for up to a month to limit pest spread. If your plant arrives with any issue, reach out to our team with pictures if possible!
Plant Shipping Disclaimer: Live plants have different sensitivity levels to shipping stress including but not limited to shipping route/facility weather or being boxed up without light or ventilation for days at a time. Yellowing/lose of leaves, root rot, wrinkling of stems, discoloration, and other signs of shipping stress can be expected to some degree. Minor damage as listed above sometimes cannot be mitigated even through the best of practices per each plants unique sensitivities. Minor and Expected stress on live plants shipped by Scorpio Gardens as listed above cannot be considered for refunds. To minimize stress on your plants in transit, consider adding “heated packaging” for packages traveling through regions experiencing 40 degrees or less and upgrading to Express 2nd Day Mail
Growth Pattern: This Dracaena variety features tall, sword-like leaves that grow vertically, creating a bold and architectural presence. The leaves are dark green with contrasting light green or silvery stripes, adding a touch of sophistication to your space.
Light Requirements: Position your Snake Plant in moderate to bright indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions but thrives when provided with ample indirect sunlight.
Watering Needs: Maintain slightly moist soil for your Zeylanica Snake Plant. Water it when the top inch of the soil feels dry to the touch. Be cautious not to overwater, as excessive moisture can lead to root issues.
Soil Type: Plant your Snake Plant in well-draining potting mix to prevent waterlogged roots. A mix of regular indoor potting soil with perlite or sand enhances soil aeration.
Temperature and Climate: This Dracaena variety prefers indoor temperatures ranging from 65-80°F (18-27°C). It is well-suited for typical indoor environments and can tolerate minor temperature fluctuations.
Fertilization: Feed your Snake Plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce fertilization in the fall and winter when growth slows.
Pruning and Maintenance: Prune your Snake Plant as needed to maintain its upright form and remove any yellowing or damaged leaves. This minimal maintenance plant is an excellent choice for busy plant owners.
Pests and Diseases: Snake Plants are generally resistant to pests and diseases. However, it's a good practice to inspect them occasionally for signs of common indoor pests like mealybugs or spider mites.
Toxicity: Please note that while this plant is not highly toxic, it can cause mild irritation if ingested. Keep it out of reach of pets and children.
Additional Tips:
- Rotate the plant occasionally to ensure even growth and balanced exposure to light.
- Wipe the leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust and maintain their glossy appearance.
